Qualifications: 

Qualifications and skills

  • At least a Masters' degree in Marine Sciences or equivalent domains. In the absence of a master's degree, professional experience of at least 15 years in the sector(s) directly related to marine sciences

General professional experience

  • At least 10 years' professional experience in the field of fisheries and/or aquaculture or equivalent domains

Specific professional experience

  • At least 8 years working experience in preparation of roadmap for the fisheries and/or aquaculture sector
  • Proven experience in researching and/or developing value chains in the fisheries sector
  • Proven experience in assessing policy issues regarding fisheries and/or aquaculture
  • Proven experience in the research and/or development of the blue economy
  • Proven experience in dealing with fisheries sector in ACP countries
  • Proven experience in delivering training
  • A good understanding of EU development assistance
  • Excellent organisation and coordination skills
  • Ability to take initiatives and to work in a fast track and in a new cultural environment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Fluent written and oral communication in English
Other information: 

The minimum number of working days for the Specialist in Blue Economy, Aquaculture and Fisheries is estimated at around 720 days spent in undertaking and/or coordinating the studies mentioned above under key results 1 and 2 above. The expert will be based in Seychelles for the entire part of the assignment.
