GIZ Forest landscape restoration and good governance in the forest sector (Forests4Future)
Task description: 
  • Overall responsibility for the advisory package of the contractor
  • Ensure coherence and complementarity of the services of the contractor with other services delivered by the programme at local and national level
  • Conception, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of capacity development measures for local partners in the areas of natural resource management, land use planning, sustainable development
  • Consideration of cross-cutting topics (e.g. gender equality)
  • Personnel management, in particular identifying the need for short-term assignments within the available budget, as well as planning and steering assignments and supporting local and international short-term experts
  • Ensure monitoring of results
  • Regular reporting in accordance with deadlines
  • Responsibility for controlling the use of funds and financial planning in consultation with GIZ’s project manager responsible for the commission (AV)
  • Supporting the project manager for the commission in updating and/or adapting the project strategy, in evaluations and in preparing a follow-on phase
  • Maintaining contact to other donors and the German embassy
  • Regular participation in coordination meetings of SEWOH projects in Togo and exchange with the coordinator
  • Ensuring the exchange with other GIZ projects in the intervention region and while carrying out activities in the prefecture of Tchamba (ProCIV, ProEnergie, ProDEG)
Qualifications: 
  • Education/training: University qualification (German ‘Diplom’/Master) in Environmental, Agricultural, Political or Forestry Sciences
  • Language: Fluency in German, good knowledge of French and English
  • General professional experience: 10 years professional experience in project management and financial management
  • Specific professional experience: 5-8 years professional experience in the Natural Resources, Forest or Rural Development sector with a focus on sustainable forest management, Forest Landscape Restoration
  • Leadership/management experience: 3-5 years leadership experience as team leader in projects or executive in companies
  • Regional experience: 3-5 years of experience in projects in francophone Africa (optional: 2 of them in projects in Togo)
  • Development Cooperation (DC) experience: 6 years of experience in DC projects
  • Other: Experience in financial management, knowledge / understanding of GIZ procedures and processes
