Shifting paradigm of EU development cooperation
GOPA to promote EU businesses in South East Asia in a Partnership Instrument-funded project
As partner of a PWC-led consortium, our department Governance and Economic Development has been awarded the EU Business Avenues in South East Asia (Lot 1) project for the next five years.
The programme is seen as part of the external dimension of Europe 2020 complementing the EU FTA agenda. Hence, it is managed by the Foreign Policy Instruments of the European Commission. It promotes trade and business cooperation between European and South East Asian companies. Similar programmes are to be implemented in South Korea, China and Japan.
The project started on 1 February 2016. It aims at matching European and South East Asian companies in the sectors of renewable energy and water, healthcare and medical equipment, food and beverages, interior design and construction. The kick-off meeting took place from 25 to 28 January, bringing together all partners, experts and the EU at PWC’s premises in Brussels and Luxembourg.
