Service Contract to facilitate the operationalisation of the EU-Japan Green Alliance. Activities will focus on supporting policy dialogue and practical cooperation on shared policy priorities. 

Expected outputs will focus on enhancing EU/member state climate and environmental diplomacy and outreach in Japan; supporting cooperation with Japan on energy transition; strengthening EU-Japan bilateral cooperation, multilateral efforts including business exchanges to drive uptake of low carbon technologies, circular economy and resource efficiency, biodiversity protection and restoration frameworks, sustainable finance and instruments fighting pollution; enhancing EU-Japan exchanges on development of climate policies including carbon pricing, collaboration on research and development supporting green transition and supporting cooperation and exchanges on best practices between EU and Japanese cities on green smart city innovations.

Indicative start date: March 2024

Qualifications and skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a subject relevant to this contract;
• Excellent communication skills in Japanese (presenting, drafting, editing);
• Excellent media skills (social media, video, audio, graphic/web design etc.);
• Good communication skills in English;
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills (as evidenced by the professional track-record);
• Knowledge of EU institutions and policies is considered an advantage

General professional experience
• Minimum 5 years of post-graduate professional experience in relevant fields (including climate change mitigation/adaptation, renewable energy, circular economy, biodiversity protection or green transition in cities).
• Prior professional experience in the Japan and a good network among relevant stakeholders in Japan (authorities, universities, think tanks, CSOs etc.) is considered a strong asset.

Specific professional experience
• Minimum 5 years of post-graduate professional experience related to communication and outreach (public relations, public diplomacy, communications, journalism, event management, media, etc.).
