Task description:

The Team Leader is responsible for the overall implementation of the project, the fulfilment of all project management tasks, maintaining regular contact and direct communication with the Contracting Authority, the quality of the team’s performance and its delivered outputs. 

The Team Leader shall have the capacity to call on the specific expertise of the other key and non-key experts for individual tasks, to ensure the day-today management of the project, the dissemination of information as well as monitoring and reporting. 

The objective of the project is to facilitate the operationalisation of the EU-Korea Green Partnership. Activities will focus on supporting policy dialogues and practical cooperation on shared policy priorities. 

The expected outputs will focus on: 

  1. Strengthening EU/Member State green diplomacy and outreach in Korea;  

  1. Supporting Korea's just and clean energy transition;  

  1. Enhancing EU-Korea industry cooperation on circular economy approaches;  

  1. Supporting cooperation and exchanges on best practices between EU and Korean cities on green smart city innovations as well as  

  1. Promoting bilateral cooperation on international efforts to fight pollution, protect biodiversity and promote sustainable production, trade and consumption patterns. 

The total duration of the project is 48 months. The input for this position (full or part-time) is not yet determined. 

Qualifications:

Qualifications and skills: 

  • A minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, natural resources management, (environmental) law, (environmental) economics, international relations or political science.  

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English language. Knowledge of Korean language would be a strong asset.  

General professional experience: 

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in (one or more) areas directly relevant to climate change mitigation/adaptation, green transition, renewable energy, circular economy, biodiversity protection and/or urban development.  

Specific professional experience: 

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in managing international teams of experts, including in delivering complex, policy-related, multi-year projects involving a variety of stakeholders. 

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in formulating, negotiating and implementing environmental policies / green diplomacy. 

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience working closely with national and/or sub-national government entities as well as with other stakeholders such as CSOs, the private sector, academia and research centres. 

  • Knowledge of the EU Green Deal and the EU’s policies relating to climate change, environment, green economy and energy as well as of EU-Korea relations. 

  • Previous professional experience in South Korea would be a strong asset. 

  • Previous experience with EU-funded projects would be strongly preferred.
