Uganda: Empowering Women for a Sustainable Future

The Employment Promotion for Women for the Green Transformation in Africa (#WE4D) in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (Uganda) has officially launched its flagship project, Women Economic Empowerment for Green Transformation under the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (WEEG-UWEP).

This 22-month project (January 2025 – October 2026), co-funded by the German Government, European Union, and Norway and implemented by GIZ will support 600 UWEP funded women groups in green sectors such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, and eco-tourism. The project aims to enhance competitiveness, create jobs, and improve gender-specific working conditions.

Implemented with support from GOPA Worldwide Consultants, the initiative will provide training, coaching, mentorship, and business development services to help women’s groups become structured and formalised MSMEs. These groups will meet regulatory standards and gain access to larger markets in collaboration with Uganda Registration Services Bureau URSB, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) & Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)

This project marks the start of a transformative journey, and GOPA looks forward to working with our partners to scale impact, drive innovation, and unlock the full potential of women-led enterprises.
