Task description:

The Team Leader will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of the project and the achievement of results. She/he will ensure effective communication and cooperation with all stakeholders in the selection, prioritisation and detailed design of activities.

The Team Leader will be able to mobilise non-key experts and speakers/ external experts with specialised knowledge and experience to ensure the best possible exchange of knowledge and experience within the frame of the project. The Team Leader will also have a strong ability to manage the drafting and edit technical environmental policy documents, summarise key findings and communicate these clearly. She/ he will be responsible for ensuring the quality, appropriateness and timeliness of project outputs and report

Qualifications:

Qualifications and skills

  • A Master degree in a field such as: climate policy, natural resources management, environment, sustainable development, agronomy, social, political, or economic sciences or relevant, directly related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience (minimum 5 additional years supplementing the minimal general professional experience requested);
  • High-quality writing and communication skills;
  • Excellent facilitation and inter-personal skills;
  • Fluent in English in Spanish (written and spoken), good reporting skills, and computer literacy;
  • Portuguese knowledge would be an asset.

General professional experience

  • At least 12 years of professional experience in climate change and sustainable development nexus with a minimum requirement of 5 years of experience in international cooperation
  • At least 6 years of professional experience as a team leader, preferably for an EU-funded project;
  • Experiences in policy development and policy dialogue;
  • Should be familiar with the EU Project Cycle Management

 

Specific professional experience

  • Proven experience of working with national governments and/or public authorities in Latin America America in climate /environment/biodiversity related areas;
  • Previous experience with EU-funded projects is an asset;
  • Knowledge of EU and LAC climate and environment policies, legislation and strategies;
  • Training delivery and knowledge sharing experience is an asset;
  • Experience in gender mainstreaming in climate action projects is an asset;
  • Professional experience in LAC and/or CAR regional cooperation projects and a good network among LAC/CAR and EU climate related organisations and professionals would be a strong advantage.
